Some birthday fun!

Coyote Valley RV Resort
Morgan Hill, CA

Before I write about my fun yesterday,
a few shots of goings on here in Morgan Hill..

We have someone moving in right behind our window..

I'm not good at identifying these kind of birds,
but she looks like she's getting ready to have a family :-)

Yesterday was the best day ever!
We spent the day with our good friends Greg & Connie,
while celebrating my 58th birthday.

We started out having breakfast out at a local diner, Betsy's.

Then Greg drove as we made our way to Santa Cruz for the day.
It couldn't have been more perfect, with sunny skies and highs in the upper 60's.

We walked along the boardwalk, which is quiet this time of year.

We really enjoyed walking around, and ended up on the pier,
where we were entertained by the sea lions.

This guy was trying to keep his catch away from the seagulls..

These guys were just being lazy!

How about the views of the boardwalk?

I took a lot of seagull pictures that were around,
but this guy made us all laugh..

I guess he was getting a better view from the top of this car!

After we got our fill of the pier, we wandered up the street

It was a fascinating place, with free admission,
and a great 15 minute film about the bay.
The sanctuary encompasses a shoreline length of 276 miles
and 4,601 square nautical miles of ocean,
extending an average distance of 30 miles from shore.
At its deepest point, the sanctuary reaches more than two miles,
which makes this larger than Yellowstone National Park in size.

All this walking around made us hungry again!
I got my pick of dinner venue,
so of course I chose Phil's,
one of my favorite places :-)
The four of us had a terrific meal,
and stayed to watch some musicians play a good mix.

Greg & Connie surprised me with a terrific cake
at their rig once we got home..

George also had some nice flowers for me :-)

We had the best day, one to remember for a long time!

Our days off

Coyote Valley RV Resort
Morgan Hill, CA

It is so nice having 6 days off!
We have time to get things done
in our own time,
and have some fun!

I'm getting walking in, sometimes with George,
and sometimes with Connie.
Our friends Greg & Connie are now here from Ohio.
We met them when they were staying here
last time we workamped.

George has problems riding the bike,
so I've been doing it solo.
The bike trail that runs behind the resort
is very nice, mostly flat,
with some nice scenery.

I even saw a bobcat, but by the time I stopped, got my camera ready,
he was ducking into the brush.
I really didn't want to get off the bike and find him :-)

Yesterday my Mom drove up and met me halfway.
We had a nice lunch, then went to the movie Paddington.
It was cute, and brought back memories.
My son Adam's nursery was all decked out with everything Paddington 30 years ago!

Tonight is another wine tasting event here at the clubhouse.
I will be working for 3 hours, as my Saturdays are only 11 hours,
so I need to make up the other 3 on Fridays.

Life is good in California!

First day of work

Coyote Valley RV Resort
Morgan Hill, CA

After training off and on this week,
I was ready today to work on my own in the office here.

My work hours are 8 am to 7 pm, 11 hours!
The day went by fairly quickly, however.
My duties are to check new arrivals in,
answer the phone and make reservations,
and sell items from the store.
While I'm inside, George is outside,
escorting people to their sites,
filling propane,
and running around in the golf cart :-)

Last night there was a wine tasting in the clubhouse,
so George and I went.
The wine, Mann Cellars, was pretty good.
As you can see in the picture above,
we sell wine in the store too :-)

George and I have been keeping up our walking,
and have gotten our bikes out to ride.
We rode down the bike trail behind the resort,
about 6 miles round trip.

Tomorrow we'll be down to Salinas to spend the day with Mom,
go to church and lunch.

The weather is beautiful, sunny, low 70's.
It's getting warmer, time to find a place to hike!

Getting Settled

Coyote Valley RV Resort
Morgan Hill, CA

We've been pretty busy getting settled here at Coyote.
The weather has been terrific, with highs in the upper 60's
and nice sunny skies.

George and I drove down to Salinas on Thursday.
We needed to pick up some things that we had stored at Adam's house,
including my Dad's golf clubs and two boxes of more 'stuff' we
couldn't live without :-)

We visited my Mom at her new place,
and George helped her hang some things on the wall.

Yesterday I got up early (5 am!) and picked up my Mom
and we drove to Bakersfield to attend my cousin's daughter's
baby shower.
This will be my aunt Judy's first great-granddaughter!

Chelsey and my cousin Kelly

She got so many cute things, shopping for girls is so fun!
We went back to my aunt's house and chatted for a bit,
then hopped back in the car for the 3.5 hour drive back.
Whew!

Today George and I attended church in Salinas.

This past week I've been in the office learning Campground Master,
as that will be my job all day Saturdays.
George worked yesterday while I was in Bakersfield.
He said it was slow, as it is this time of year.

George will work 14 hours, and I'm working 11.
I'll need to make up the 3 hours during the week
helping out in the office.

It'll be nice having 6 days off!

California time!

Coyote Valley RV Resort
Morgan Hill, CA

We finally made it to our new job.
Coyote Valley RV Resort is a very nice place.
We've worked here before, in 2012-2013.

I took a picture of our site when George was still getting ready..

We're in a different site than last time,
but closer to the pool and hot tub!

Today we have to talk to the owner, Elaine,
to find out our duties.
As of now, it looks like we'll be working one day a week,
Saturday...
George doing outside maintenance, escorting people to their sites,
filling propane, etc.
I'll be working in the office checking people in and making reservations.

While we were in Bakersfield we spent some time with my cousins & family.
Sunday we went out for brunch at a Mexican buffet..

Our bartender/server told us if we would do a review on Yelp,
he would cut our bill in half.
So I did!

We hung out in my aunt's sewing room...
she loves to quilt and do crafts..

Their dog Molly is the cutest thing.
I think she likes George!

We're happy to be in this area again.
We know the people for the most part,
some of the same workampers are here as well.
We love the bike trails that are here and the golf course.

We'll be visiting my Mom a lot too,
and getting to see my son Adam again.

Life is good!

Almost there!

Bakersfield River Run RV Park
Bakersfield, CA

After lots of miles of driving,
we finally have landed for a few nights at
in Bakersfield, CA.

New Year's eve we spent the night in a parking lot
at
Wild Horse Pass Casino in Chandler, AZ.

We got ahold of some friends of ours that live in Chandler.
Donna & Frank worked with us at Coyote RV resort
a few years back.
They are selling their motorhome, and have moved back into their house.
They came by and we went into the casino for a late lunch..

It was sure nice to catch up with them!

When they left, we decided to sign up for the comps
so we could play some slots for a few minutes.
Of course, we played on their money for all of 15 minutes before it was gone :-)

Once we were back in the RV around 7 pm,
we dressed warmly in jammies and crawled under the covers to keep warm.
Our bedroom TV runs on the batteries,
so I watched a little of the New Year's Eve festivities
until about 9 pm, and fell asleep.

Thursday we decided it was best to drive from there
straight through to Bakersfield,
where we had reserved a spot for the weekend.
We called and added an additional night.
George and I plan on spending some time
with my aunt & uncle and cousins.

Monday we'll be leaving here and going to our new spot
at Coyote Valley RV resort where we'll be workamping until May.
