J. Strom Thurmond Lake
Modoc, SC
Last night it was decided to gather together
to celebrate George's birthday,
Cheryl's birthday (on Sunday)
and my departure (on Monday).
A perfect thing to do was an ice cream social!
Each couple brought a half gallon of ice cream,
and their favorite toppings.
Cheryl even made cupcakes,
and David & Janet made a pie!
We all sat around talking for awhile..
Then finally we broke out the ice cream!
Even Lucy enjoyed licking some bowls :-)
We really enjoy the volunteers here.
We're all from different walks of life,
with different RV lifestyles,
but we all get along just great!
This is my last weekend to work the gatehouse with George.
I've found out that my Dad will get palliative care at home soon.
The tumor in his brain is causing some disorientation,
and some comical hallucinations.
My Mom told me yesterday he kept seeing miniature golf carts
on the doctors waiting room floor :-)
I guess you got to keep your humor in this situation.
Next post from California!
An ice cream social is a perfect idea for any celebration...yum!
ReplyDeleteOur best to your family. Have a safe flight.
Ice cream is a great celebration food. Nice send off for you. I'm sorry these circumstances make it necessary for you to have to go and hope you have a safe flight. Anxious to hear what is next for your father.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a great time was had by all... we recognize many of them! Sorry we missed it. Have a safe trip, and we'll continue to keep you & George and your Mom & Dad in our thoughts and prayers.
ReplyDeleteWe'll continue you hold you and your family in our prayers for peace and strength.
ReplyDeleteWishing all of your family the best in this difficult time.
ReplyDeleteIce cream! Last week I picked up some Dryers Butterfinger Ice Cream. OH MY GOSH! Got another container today. This stuff is additive.
Thinking of you and your parents during these difficult days... :'(
ReplyDeleteI hope that your dad is feeling a bit better and not in too much pain. I'm sure that he is happy that you can spend some time with him and your mom.
