Prunedale, CA
There's not been a lot to report about here in California.
I'm still helping out by doing things around the house.
Today I cleaned out an area of the garage that was
becoming cluttered with boxes of 'stuff'.

We boxed up a lot of old picture frames that were stacked in a box. It was fun taking out the photographs from them and looking at them. We all got lots of laughs at some of the older ones :-) Goodwill will be getting a huge box of empty frames!
George called with good news that the FEMA buyout is now finally complete! He signed the closing papers, got them notarized, and overnighted via UPS to Pennsylvania. We should have the funds wired in to our account within a week. Only took 2 1/2 years!
I booked my flight home, on Wednesday, 2/12. My Mom bought the return ticket :-) George will be happy to have me home, I'm sure. I think my parents will be sorry to see me go.
A few more doctors appointments this week for them. We see my Dad's oncologist again tomorrow, and he has a few more questions about remission for her.
It has been a great month here! |
How wonderful that you were able to spend a month with your parents at this important time. George is an angel! So glad he finally got the payoff and the money is in the bank. Wow 2.5 years. Well some people had to wait that long just to sell their houses to get on the road so I guess it's all in how you look at it. Safe travels home.
ReplyDeleteGlad FEMA finally came through! I know your parents are going to miss you :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on finally being able to get that buyout behind you. Good timing able to spend Val. Day w/ George.)
ReplyDeleteGreat news about FEMA. 2 1/2 years to settle your claim. Seems like FEMA works faster than the VA, I'm at 2 1/2 years with no end in sight. :c(
ReplyDeleteNice work getting things cleaned out and organized. I guess all that practice you got with your own house when you were getting ready to hit the road came in handy! ;c)
Good news about the FEMA buyout! So, do you and George even remember what each other looks like? :)
