Lake Eustis

Pittman Visitor Center
Altoona, FL

We can't believe Christmas is 3 weeks away!
It seems that the year flies by, and before you know it...

Yesterday we got prepared a bit.
Harvey got cleaned inside,
and I put out our Christmas decorations..

George & I took a ride into Mt. Dora and finished our Christmas shopping.

When we were all finished, we stopped in Eustis.
The town was named for General Eustis,
who had skirmishes with the Seminole Indians in the late 1800's.
There is a huge lake, 7,000 acres big, that has a nice elevated walkway
with boat launches and fishing piers.

It attracts some nice bird activity,

Of course there were some 'common' birds as well..

as well as a nice statue in the fountain..

We also saw quite a few turtles..

The nicest part was the sunset!

Afterwards we took a ride over to Lady Lake
and went to dinner at Sweet Tomatoes.
We love that place!
We can eat great salads and soups from their 'bars'..
try it!

The weather this week is in the low 80's,
perfect for exploring!

  1. Lovely decorations…home is where your heart is and RVing just made us remember that you don't need a lot of stuff to be happy, and a little tree is just as nice as a big one!

  2. Beautiful sunset pictures Laurie! You are the second person to recommend Sweet Tomatoes. Guess we'll have to look around and see if there is one close to us.

  4. Don't know if we'll be settled in long enough before Christmas to decorate so I'll just have to look at your picture to feel festive. :) The lake is pretty but the sunset is beautiful! Like Florida yet?
