Bike ride on the beach

Huntington Beach State Park
Murrells Inlet, SC

George and I said fond 'see you laters' to two more couples Monday morning.

Paul, Marti, Mike, and Terri all pulled out to head back to
J. Strom Thurmond COE Lake to continue their workamping gig.
We will miss them, but hopefully will see them down the road.

We relaxed a bit that morning to let it warm up a bit.
It was windy and chilly, even though the sun was out.

After a light lunch, we hopped on our bikes,
and rode past Nancy & Neil's site to see if they wanted to join us.

We all decided to try and bike to the south jetty.
It was an easy ride on the park road,
and then we pushed our bikes through the sand to the beach area.

The wind made it difficult to ride,
so when we hit soft sand,
we had to walk once in awhile.

It was great when we finally got to the jetty..

3 of us rode out to the end to check it out.

We all have to say that the ride back was much easier..
the wind was at our back!
We stopped several times to take in the beauty of the ocean and dunes.

We biked a total of 7 miles!
It felt great :-)

Today we drove to Woodbine, GA,
staying at Walkabout Campground overnight.
Tomorrow we'll be at our site behind the
Pittman Visitors Center in Altoona, FL,
where we will begin our maintenance job for the Ocala National Forest.

  1. Great ride you guys!! The Jetty is one of my favorite places when we are at Huntington. Riding into the wind makes it a much longer ride;o))

Perhaps our paths will cross later this winter in Florida. Safe Travels and Happy Trails...

  4. Hope you enjoy your short stay in Ga before heading to Fl. Just think, you will be in the Sunshine state tomorrow. We both wish we were to.

  6. Oh, that picture of us makes me sad again that we had to say goodbye. But I know we'll catch up with each other some time down the road.

Great bike ride! Love the picture of George with the ocean in the backdrop.

  7. Such great pictures of your last day at the beach. You two look terrific in those chairs. We've stayed at Walkabout on our way to Florida for the past nearly 4 years now. Such nice folks. Safe travels.
