J. Strom Thurmond Lake
Appling, GA
Yesterday we had an easy 4 hour drive from Franklin, NC.
Before we took off, we had Harvey weighed!
Since I had to be in the truck when all this happened,
I couldn't get out to take pictures :-)
The good news was that Harvey is only 900# overweight.
We are heavy on the driver's side because all our appliances are on that side.
All the other weights are a bit under as far as axle weight, etc.
We'll try to adjust where we can..but we're happy with the results!
I think George was sweating it out :-)
I was sweating out getting to our campground a bit.
Since we had reservations at a COE park, we have been holding our breath.
But we had some inside information :-)
Our good friends Paul & Marti, and Mike & Terri
just happen to be workamping in the day use areas here and were keeping us informed.
This campground just happens to have some outside funding from the timber industry
that is keeping it open..don't understand, but cool!
We have a terrific site:
With a view of the lake..
From our very own 'patio' area..
Pretty cool!
Once we were hooked up yesterday,
we had a nice visit from our insiders..
It is so nice seeing them again, it's been almost a year!
We all remarked that it doesn't seem that long
since we all keep in touch via technology.
Today we are meeting them for lunch!
We are looking forward to the 2 weeks we have here.
There are lots of places to ride our bikes,
take walks,
and get our Sea Eagle wet!
Glad to hear you made it safely and have such a nice site. Hope to see you soon. We sure enjoyed our visit with you both.
ReplyDeleteSee no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil...yada, yada, yada! :cD
ReplyDeleteWe're so glad you're here, looking forward to sharing good fun with you in this beautiful area.
Well, it appears that foursome I warned you about must have ditched the red vests so you wouldn't rcognize them!!! In that photo it appears that the hammer thrower just let it fly;-(( Please try to get them to behave so they don't get that campground closed also:o)) LOL

ReplyDeleteLove the monkeys although I was trying to figure out what that 4th one was doing until Paul explained. I think you are going to have your hands full keeping them in line. What a gorgeous site. Looks like a great two weeks. I guess all the rain is up here.
ReplyDeleteLet the fun times begin!!
ReplyDeleteYou guys are so lucky! You should probably quit broadcasting your park is open :) You might be deluged with other people looking for their park fix! :)
ReplyDeleteHave fun...and I know you will :)
Great -the only down side is you have to listen to Paul:)
