RV-Dreams Rally - Day 4

Great Outdoors RV Resort
Franklin, NC

Sunday morning we awoke to the same foggy conditions.
I really need to get up earlier and take a picture of the fog.
It usually burns off by about 10 am or so.

This morning's seminars were new to the rallies.
Howard & Linda had classes on basic RV  maintenance..
..such as batteries, air conditioning, furnace, water heater..
how to maintain, clean, do repairs, etc.
It was very useful!

After we took a break for lunch, we drove our truck
up to the old Walmart parking lot (where it was level)
to get it weighed.

Wednesday,  our departure day, we'll get Harvey weighed.

After the weighing, we took a drive into Franklin to see the town.
We wondered why it is so historic..
so I looked it up..
they are the 'Gem' capital of the world.

It had a cute little downtown,
all decked out for fall..

We realized the whole town shuts down on Sundays..

We both thought their trash cans were cool..
all painted by local artists..

We stopped and bought groceries on the way home.
After putting them away,
we took a walk up to the top of the hill overlooking the RV park.

There are motorhome lots up there for sale.
There are spectacular views!

A bunch of us met for happy hour after our walk.
We've really enjoyed meeting this group of RVrs!

Tomorrow there are a few more seminars in the morning,
then rig walk-throughs in the afternoon.
We weren't sure how that was going to go with TS Karen in the area.
It's raining here now, but it is supposed to clear up by noon tomorrow!

  1. That sounds like a great new seminar. Hope Harvey and the truck come out underweight. Walk throughs are always fun. Hope you are opening Harvey.

  2. Sounds like you're enjoying the rally. We've seen many small town "art projects" but not on the trash cans! It's always fun exploring the local small towns. Good luck on Harvey's weight... hopefully he won't need to go on a diet!

  3. Last year we tried to find our fortune at gem mining :) in Franklin, alas we had to head back to work. Good luck with Harvey's weight, hope it dries out soon.

  4. Yeah, we're learning these towns close up on Sundays. I didn't know Franklin was big on gem mining. We loved doing that last week. See you Tuesday

  5. That corner of the mountains seems to be very popular for RV lots. Sure is beautiful!

  6. I hope your weighing goes well, better to know if you have any issues now rather than a weight related breakdown on the road.

Those RV lots are very tempting. Maybe after we run the wheels off our Journey... ;c)
