Final night in North Carolina

Great Outdoors RV Resort
Franklin, NC

This morning was the farewell breakfast at the rally.
At every rally, it is tradition to sing along to a song by Rascal Flatts called 'My Wish'.
It always brings tears to my eyes saying 'seeya down the road' to all the new friends we've made.

Today we had made plans to meet up with fellow RV bloggers
Karen & Al of Rv Travels With Karen & Al.
They stay in their motorhome on their lot in Blairsville, GA.
Since it's about an hour away, they graciously said they would
meet us halfway in Hayesville, NC.
We drove the 37 miles over the mountain,
and met them at Anejo Grill for some good Mexican food.

We talked so long, I thought we'd get kicked out!
George & I really enjoyed getting to meet them,
and hope to get to see their lot in Blairsville while we're in Georgia.
On the way back, we stopped to see the views..

This afternoon was spent getting ready to travel tomorrow.
George dumped the tanks, while I put away things inside.

Later this evening, we were invited by some rally attendees
to their site for some supper.
A quite a few of us showed up!

We stayed until it started getting chilly,
and sat around the fire.

Tomorrow Harvey gets weighed,
and we travel to Petersburg campground, Strom Thurmond COE park in Georgia.
George and I are looking forward to 2 weeks of a beautiful place...
if the government lets us stay that long! :-)
We have reservations from the 9th to the 23rd,
and have it on good authority that we can stay there until the 19th...so far...

We'll let you know!

  4. Safe travels and enjoy Petersburg. Great area, but be warned there are reports of four crazy people in red vests hanging out in the area. One was last report to be swinging a hammer!!!

  7. Don't count on getting in that COE park. Remember, we were kicked out of one last week. But I would hope if you have reservations you would have received notification if it's closed.

Next time you are in Hayesville, be sure to eat of Connies Cafe.

  8. Thanks so much for the daily posts on the rally. It sure looks like a lot of fun. Glad you got to meet up with Karen and Al sorry you didn't get to meet the famous Baxter. I'd love to know how Strom is keeping his COE park open for business during the shut down. I thought ALL government parks were closed. Can't wait to hear about that.
