J. Strom Thurmond Lake
Appling, GA
Yesterday afternoon we took a drive down to the Thurmond Dam.
There is a nice walkway on the river side.
From there you can see the dam, the power plant, and the Savannah river.
There are some great platforms to fish from too..
We picked up a few groceries on the way home,
then sat outside and enjoyed the scenery..
I think this is a white-breasted nuthatch..a Carolina Chickadee (Thanks, Nancy!)
and this is a red-kayaked weekend camper..
We topped off the night with a campfire..
even though it was 75 degrees out!
Today we woke up to some uninvited guests.
We had little baby ants in the kitchen and bathroom!
We should have sprayed everything that touched the ground, but forgot to :-(
George ran to Lowe's and got Comet for around the tires,
and some more Home Defense to spray.
We are using Terro Liquid Ant Bait for inside.
It seems to be doing the trick so far!
I didn't sleep well last night, so I've been lazing a bit today..
and taking a few naps :-)
Hopefully tomorrow will be better, and we can get outside!
Good thing you didn't get any vertigo looking over that dam. Nice picture of that red kayaked weekend camper. With the government shutdown, that's a pretty rare "bird" to see! :cD
ReplyDeleteWe had the same problem with ants at MODOC!!! Did the same thing...Terro and Comet;o)) Don't forget the truck...we wound of with ants in the Tahoe;o((
ReplyDeleteI believe that bird is actually a Carolina Chickadee... the nuthatch has a longer beak.
Feel better and get out and enjoy all the great things around there!!
Wonder if it's something in the air. I slept terribly last night too. Wish I could get out though. It has rained every single day of the week we've been here. Sick of rain. I'd like to be that red kayaked camper and be back at Assateague. Ugg ANTS. We had them for the first time a month or so ago. Tero was good. And I think the fact that we moved helped. Good luck - sounds like you have a good plan.
ReplyDeleteTerro sure does the trick for us. Those ants will be gone in no time!
