Amana, IA
We gave in.
After spending a night in a huge Flying J (Called Bosselman's)
in Grand Island, NE last night..sweating with no AC,
I looked for hook-ups for tonight.
We traveled about 6 hours again today, with only one issue.
The second battery in our truck started emitting that rotten egg smell.
It fortunately happened right after we pulled into Pilot to fuel up.
Thankfully, there was a truck repair shop right down the street from the Pilot.
The shop had a new battery installed within 15 minutes!
We pulled into Amana Colonies RV Park in Amana, Iowa around 3:15.
It's a lovely park, with lots of space, and lots of cornfields surrounding it.
It feels like we're in the 'Field of Dreams' :-)
Of course, we're on a mission to get to Pennsylvania,
so we are just staying one night.
We love this place, and will be back to explore the area.
Tomorrow we'll be in Indiana,
then Friday-Monday in Ohio visiting friends.
Once we're in PA, we'll be finally sitting for 2 weeks!
Glad that you found someplace to hook up for some air!! Isn't it crazy how wide open the spaces are there? We were only in those states for a couple of weeks, so that view caught my eye every time we got on the road. And those miles of turbines. Wow! Mind-boggling how many there are. Pictures just don't do it justice.
ReplyDeleteGood catch on the battery failing, you don't need to be stuck on the road in this heat.
ReplyDeleteI bet you're looking forward to sitting for a while in PA and recovering from all that PDD travel! :cD
Glad the battery folks were close by. I've always wanted to see Amanda colonies. Sorry you couldn't stay.
ReplyDeleteAnd the Amana Colonies too! :-)) Who is Amanda anyway?
DeleteWhew! You must be getting pretty exhausted! Glad to hear there's a end coming up :)
ReplyDeleteYup, out here it's all corn and soybean fields. We kinda like it!
ReplyDeleteGreat timing on the battery! We like boondocking... but with heat and humidity we really need hookups. We have a generator, but we would have to run it around the clock. We were going to stay at Amana Colonies if we got in the area to visit friends in Cedar Rapids, but we didn't make it there.
ReplyDeleteThat is a great area, we spent three days exploring the colonies.
ReplyDeleteWho knew it was so hot in Nebraska? That was our experience last year -- it was just brutal!
ReplyDeleteGlad the repair shop was able to get a new battery installed for you in no time flat.
