Scratchin' that Hitch Itch

Cedar Creek Hatchery
Hebo, OR

After 3 full months of this beautiful view..

we are finally finished with our hatchery job!

The last few days have been spent preparing..
washing Harvey inside and out..

filling out our final paperwork, and turning in our keys..
and visiting a few of our favorite places.
Wednesday night we went into Pacific City to Doryland Pizza,
and yesterday before getting one more haircut,
we stopped into Tillamook Cheese Factory to enjoy their grilled cheese sandwiches :-)

Today the hatchery boys (my name for them, not theirs!)
threw a little get together for us.

Lawrence made turkey, stuffing, and mashed potatoes..

Joe brought some different kinds of salad..

and Bob brought some smoked salmon and hors d' ouevres.

We all dug in, and stuffed ourselves..

No dinner tonight!

We have really enjoyed ourselves here.
The job was not too bad, and we would return again!

Tomorrow we head out, traveling south on I-5.
We'll be stopping overnight at a Flying J in Oakland, OR
as we make our way to California for a few days.

We are looking forward to seeing my parents again!

  1. That three months went by so fast! what a nice going away dinner party...Safe travels!

  2. It went fast for me too-hah. At least California is mostly downhill all the way. We always try to stop somewhere near Ashland just to have breakfast at Morning Glory. It's worth an extra day to stop if you have the time.

Also, we discovered we love Seven Feathers even though we don't gamble. Their free music show is great!

  3. Enjoy the time with your folks! So nice that you can see them before heading east. Safe Travels and Happy Trails....

  4. I know what you mean - this summer seemed like the fastest ever! Safe travels to CA. We leave here on Thursday to head south. :)

  5. It is good to be appreciated! Safe Travels.

  6. How nice to find you've been appreciated for all the work you did. It was a unique workamping job you had. I'm sure they were sad to see you go. Did they inventory all their tractors to make sure none were missing? I know George loved that one... ;c)

Have a great time rolling South!

  7. Our summer zipped by as well. Now the days will drag as we wait for the buyer to come!

  8. It was so nice for us to get to meet you. Enjoy your family. Safe and happy travels to you.

  9. Summer has definitely flown by. Glad you enjoyed your work camping job at the hatchery and that they appreciated having you both there. Safe travels to see your parents. I'm wishing them the very best.

  10. Those hatchery boys really know how to put on a spread! Yum!

  11. Wow -- what a feast! They really know how to show their appreciation. Safe travels!
