Morgan Hill, CA
We finally had a day to do something fun!
George and I, and our friends Greg & Connie,
took a drive up to Napa, about 2 hours north.
We did stop and have breakfast on the way at Scramblz.
Our first stop was Domaine Chandon.
They have some very good sparkling wines.
We were a bit taken aback by the $20 per person tasting fee.
For that we got 5 tastes..period..between both of us!
Not to mention that it didn't even come off a purchase of a bottle.
Now, I know that every winery isn't that expensive,
and not every winery charges to taste..but we all thought that was a little excessive.
We also walked around some shops in Yountville..
One winery we could all agree on was Beringer..
We got a great deal of a tour of the wine caves,
a barrel tasting, and a wine tasting 101 tutorial
all for just $40 per person.
A great time was had by all, with lots of laughs.
On the way home, we stopped at a great place
for dinner called Claim Jumper.
No pictures of the great food we had,
but..
George and Connie couldn't resist a fast game of checkers..

Looking forward to visiting the wine country, til then it's aisle 15 at Wal-Mart.
ReplyDeleteI'd say you got more for your money the second time around. Looks like you had a good time all around.
ReplyDelete$20...I would have to be given a whole bottle for that price. I'm not a wine drinker so I guess I would not even want the bottle LOL.
ReplyDeleteI will never complain about a $10 tasting fee ever again!
ReplyDeleteThat was sure an expensive taste of wine.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had a fabulous time! Napa is on our bucket list, looks like we'll have to save up money for the winery tours.:) I agree with Gail, won't ever complain about $10 fees! Glad you are enjoying yourselves in California!
ReplyDeleteHope it was some really good wine for $20, glad you enjoyed it and does the Claim Jumper still serve huge portions?
ReplyDeleteMy wine expertise is the two buck chuck at Trader Joe's, which I use as carburetor cleaner... ;c)
ReplyDeleteI didn't know you could drink the stuff! :cD
Looks and sounds like your really had an enjoyable time. Thank you so much for sharing.
ReplyDeleteLooks like it was a beautiful day for your wine tasting. The flowers are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteGosh, I haven't played checkers in forever! Not sure I'd even remember how to play.
I can only imagine what they get for a whole bottle!
