Gulf Islands National Seashore, FL
We just love central time ;-)
We gained an hour yesterday,
but I was in bed by 9 last night.
Today we decided to ride our
bikes over to Fort Pickens
and explore a bit.
There was a great bike trail
from the campground to the fort.
Fort Pickens was begun in 1829,
finished in 1834,
and used until 1947.
It was pretty cool walking
in and around all
that history!
We saw some critters..
and a great museum, and nature center..
We rode our bikes over to the
bay side of the peninsula,
and watched some fisherman..
..of all types!
We spent the rest of the afternoon
enjoying the beautiful
Gulf of Mexico..
..and its creatures..
But the icing on today's cake..
was watching the sun set..
Ahhhh,
this is the life :-)
That's exactly what I thought when we were there! How can it get any better?
ReplyDeleteIf you start from the campground on the bay side and walk the beach around the point and come back on the gulf side, you'll have one heck of a nice 4+ mile walk :) Just sayin' in case you feel like walking :)
Wow, how warm is it there?? You guys on the beach in shorts and t-shirts. It was 39 here in Ocala National forest last night. Looks like we picked the wrong Florida campground.:-))
ReplyDeleteDon't ya just love that sugar white sand on the beaches? It's nice to see white sand instead of white snow, eh?
ReplyDeleteGreat shots and beautiful sunset!!
ReplyDeleteBoy can you ever rub it in!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a great day with an even better sunset!
ReplyDeleteCentral time is our favorite too. Beautiful sunset photos!
ReplyDeleteFort Picken's is pretty neat. My brother in-law volunteers there on Saturdays I believe. Make sure you go over to Fort Barrancas on the other side of the bay.
ReplyDeleteYou all look like you are having so much fun! After spending the past six months in the northeast, I am really glad to be back in the Central time zone!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful...just beautiful!
