4 months of RV living

What a beautiful day!
It's sunny, blue skies,
and mild temps.

Tomorrow is my birthday,
going to be 55..
so I can order off the
senior menu if I want ;-)

George is taking me
to the movies,
we're going to go see
The Descendants.
I'll let you know how it is.
We're also going to our favorite
restaurant..Agolino's..
for a nice dinner.

This week marks 4 months
of living in the RV.
It's gone by fast!

We've done a few things
to make life a little easier,
and I thought I'd share it with you.

We put a rack over the door
in the bathroom to hold our
towels..
and we use those 3M removable
hooks for everything on the walls.

We had a couple of these ribbon
picture holders..

...and put one in the bedroom,
and one in the hall area.

A couple of plastic drawer units
for storage of bathroom items,
goes in the hall closet.

For now we have our winter
boots there, as well
as hanging our coats
in between the drawer units
and our washer/dryer.

We bought a shoe
caddy and hung it in our front closet,
for our outside shoes,
winter gloves,
and small things.
George also hung some
of those handy 3M hooks
for the keys.

The wire shelves that you
can buy at WalMart are
great for maximizing the space
in the tall cabinets..

Bill paying things, and laptop.

Printer and manuals.

Kitchen cabinet

We purchased a basket from
Lowe's that has dividers in it.
It is terrific between our two
recliners for remotes,
magazines, and Kindles.

Our refrigerator and freezer
have been fine for storage.
We added another shelf in
the freezer, and a couple
more door bins.

So far, things are working fine!
George has the basement area
the way he wants it too.

I'm sure when we are traveling,
there will be more modifications
to suit us.

Anything that you have in your rig
that you can't live without?

I see it's JUST over 7 months until you are full time! You'll certainly be ready with all your "practice".

  3. Happy Birthday! I've been following along for awhile. We're hoping to hit the road by the end of Sept. Waiting to see if the counter offer goes through today. Nice ideas for storage.

  4. Love the storage ideas. I always have good intentions, but things do get a little out of hand from time to time. I made a post once about the little gremlins who come out at night and mess everything up. I am still having a problem with those little critters.

Happy birthday for tomorrow and have a great time.

  5. Happy Birthday! Enjoy the movie and dinner, sounds like a great way to celebrate.

I was pretty organized when I started, but I'm about ready to make a few changes. My big closet needs more organization, and after eight months, I'm about almost ready to start purging again.

One thing I was VERY happy I brought along was my warm coat with a hood. I didn't think I'd need it, since I was planning on being in warm climates, but the rain comes, and the freezing nights, the super windy days, and I'm SOOOO glad I brought it. Also my down comforter. When the rig is in the 40s and 50s during the night, Katie and I are always warm in bed with that over us. :)

  6. Great organization tips -- thanks for sharing!

I can think of several things we couldn't live without, but I'd have to narrow it down to our MiFi. We feel like we're living on Mars when we can't access the internet.

    Happy Birthday!

  9. I use older Tupperware containers w/o lids in the frig for all the small bottles and jars so they won't spill or move around. Use plastic drawers in cabinets and a spring loaded BR shower curtain across the desk to keep the printer from moving while we are in motion.

  14. Happy Birthday! That's a fast 4 months. I can't live without the hand vacuum, It picks up the sand and dirt that track in the RV. It's faster to grab that then the bigger sweeper. Also the MIFI, can't deal without having internet.

I love what you've done with the shelving and the hooks in the bathroom. Have fun, hope to see you in a park one of these days.
