Nothing can prepare you for this much devastation.
The flood of September 2011
left 12 FEET of water in the house..
that was from the basement
to 2 feet above the kitchen counters.
Our furniture, clothing, and other things
were spared, as we got them out,
either in the upstairs rooms,
or in the box truck.
The trailer, where we stored
a lot of the RV things we've been purchasing..
is totally ruined. Our washer & dryer,
pictures, yearbooks..
all gone.
This is a picture of how high the
water got to:
The American Legion brought food..
Public Health came and gave tetanus shots..
We are waiting for FEMA to
assess the situation,
there is a rumor that they may
condemn the whole area.
This will open us up for aid.
Please keep us in your prayers as
we try to decide our next move.
For now we are staying with some
good friends that have a spare room.
It's hard to 'live' in a place
that's not familiar,
out of your routine.
On the way home from
packing up the truck with the good things..
we saw this:
A rainbow..
signs of promises to come.
I'm so sorry! Natural disasters are so bad. There is nothing I can say other than " I'm so sorry..."
ReplyDeleteWe had a few problems with flooding, but not as bad as you did. Hang in there, good things will come. God Bless!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness... We are so sorry!! The pictures are shocking and sad :o( So much destruction!!
ReplyDeleteWE ARE SORRY!!!
I'm so sorry. What a terrible loss.
ReplyDeleteNow may be a good time to purchase that 5th wheel.
Jim and Linda
My heart aches for you both. I so much wish there was something more we could do in addition to prayer. I was thinking the same - possibly the time to buy the fifthwheel. You will feel so much more comfortable and in control living in something you can call home.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear about your woes ... mother nature has not been kind to those of us who have had to deal with the quakes, hurricanes, and tropical storms she's seen fit to send this way. Each time I read about someone's misfortune in the face of something they can't control, I say thanks that we saw little impact from any of it.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry, Laurie... :(
ReplyDeleteI was thinking also the same thing...may be time to think about buying your next home.
I can't imagine...I'm so sorry! Where do you even begin to start cleaning that mess up?? best wishes and thoughts with you.
ReplyDeleteoh my heavens..what a mess..god bless you both...I pray the insurance company is a help in all of this...what a disaster...and not only the house but the RV trailer storage too..my heart aches for you...will be watching for updates..
ReplyDeleteWe are so sorry. We were hoping that it would just be contained to the basement. Our thoughts and prayers are with you both.
ReplyDeleteWe are so, so sorry for you two and what you are going through right now. Please be careful and know that you're in our thoughts and prayers. Next move, 5th wheel, maybe?
ReplyDeleteHang in there. This so reminds me of our flood in 2008, just incredible. I will warn you that the government moves slowly on these things. Glad you got your furniture out but hard to loose the other things especially the ones with sentimental value. You are in our thoughts daily.
ReplyDeleteOh no! How horrible for you two. I was really
ReplyDeletehoping that your house would be spared.
I'm glad to hear that your clothing and furniture were OK. If you have flood insurance, which I know is becoming harder and harder to get, I hope your company is quick on the job and if you don't then I'll hope that you get what ever sort of aid you need.
Thank goodness you have something joyful in just over a month.
I am so so sorry to see that your house has been flooded. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
ReplyDeleteSyl
I'm sick in my heart for you. I don't know what to say, but we're praying for strength for you to get through this terrible time.
ReplyDeleteWhat a terrible shame. Glad that you are okay. We have seen others who also have lost so much. You will be in our thoughts and prayers.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry. I can't imagine how you are feeling, but you'll get through this together. Thank goodness you are both okay, and were able to save some of your things. My best wishes are with you.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry. At least you are both okay. October will be a new start. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
