New camera!

Well, if you read the post from 5/13, you will know that I have been eyeing a new Nikon D3000 digital SLR. I'm happy to report that I ordered it from Amazon.com, and it came on Friday. I'm so excited!

Today I had a chance to play with it a bit, and reacquaint myself with the joys of SLR picture taking.

The birdbath in the front yard..

One of the last blooms on the rhododendron..

The reason there were no birds taking baths..

Milo. He's an indoor cat, with outdoor dreams. When we let him outside in our fenced in front yard, he's in heaven. He could care less about the birds, but they sure don't like him!

We hope everyone is having a great Memorial Day weekend..

Field Trip - or the search for ice cream...

George has some "inherited" fly fishing rods. He's been taking them to fly shops here and there for some appraisals. As he does not fly fish, he thought this would be a good way to make some RV money :) Today we drove down to Lansdale, PA, to see a gentleman who owns a fly shop and collects the type of rod that George has.

We showed the rods to 'Bob'. We left with the rods :) Apparently the rods aren't as valuable as George would have hoped. They are now on e-bay.

Now to the field trip portion of our show...

Have you ever had a craving for a great ice cream cone, and can't find an ice cream store anywhere? George and I both have IPhones, and are able to 'google' ice cream, find shops near where we are, mapquest it, and drive to it. Invariably we'll get there, and it's not open anymore :(

Well, thanks to 'Bob', we found a great place in Lansdale.

It has terrific homemade ice cream, a small flower nursery, and animals, to boot! We felt like we were on a field trip :)

We've decided that when we finally live the full time life, we will make it our mission to find a local ice cream shop wherever we are!

21!?

Sunday was a day for the record books. I drove down to the train station in Landsdale, PA where I met my son, Austin, and his girlfriend, Natalie. They came in from Philadelphia for his 21st birthday.

I took him to Kohl's shopping, and then to a tavern for his first 'legal' beer. Ahh, to be 21 again! I feel old!!

Cameras etc.

A lot of people don't know, but I just love photography. Back in my college days, I had a great 35mm Minolta SLR camera. Real film and everything! I took enough classes to learn about all the finer things of picture taking. I lost my old Minolta in a divorce, so now I'm looking for a new digital SLR camera. I think I found the perfect one!

It's only $629.95. Such a deal! I really want to get this before we go on the road, it will be my passion while retired. George has some fly rods he wants to sell, and said I can use some of the $$ to buy it ;) I can't wait! Those little point and shoots just don't do it for me :)

Visiting our future coach

Well, since it was an ugly weather day, we decided to take a ride down to the RV dealer and take a look at more coaches. My favorite one is the Pathfinder, by Sportscoach.

We both like the fact that it has a Freightliner chassis, Cummins diesel engine, and we like the layout of the interior.

I personally want the TV midship, and I love the fireplace :)

This particular coach has beautiful black tile floors, and a nice kitchen as well.

There is certainly a lot of storage, and space to move around.I think we could live in it!

Mother's Day weekend

The weekend isn't looking too bad! We're hoping to possibly take a ride down to Boat & RV world in Hamburg and visit our future coach :) George is taking me to Damenti's, a GREAT restaurant on Sunday. Too bad the kids aren't able :(

Ok, so they say we need a blog...

Day one...well day one of blog, but not first day of, well, you know, RV stuff.

George and I took a drive over to Bloomsburg fairgrounds to a small RV show. What a disappointment! If you want a TT, 5vr, or pop-up, it was there. There were 4 MH's - all gas. One dealer tried to talk us into a gas class A, of course because he didn't SELL diesel pushers. Oh well. I really like looking at 5vrs however. I could see us living in one of those!

Enough for the day one musings..
