Some son time

Cherry Creek State Park
Aurora, CO

We left Oklahoma in the nick of time on Satuday.
There was scheduled severe weather starting the next day.
We took some smaller back roads through northern Oklahoma
and parts of Kansas.
Saw a huge amount of wind turbine parts!

Oklahoma and Kansas are FLAT!

We pulled into a Walmart in Goodland, KS
for the night.
We contributed by buying $140 worth of groceries :-)

We got going early in the morning,
stopping at a Flying J for truck fuel and
the IHOP there for people fuel.

It was an easy ride to the park,
and loved the views of the Rocky Mountains
as we got closer.

The park is great,
but...
it's $30/night PLUS $9 per day park admittance fee.
No discount for seniors unless a CO resident.
There is free wifi and some nice hiking trails.
Hopefully if the weather gets a bit better
I can get George out walking :-)

Sites are all paved, some pull through, some back in..

Lots of trees, but nothing that blocks satellite.

Yesterday we took a drive around.
I needed a haircut, we needed to get
some whole grains and nuts at Sprouts.
We also found a Sweet Tomatoes,
George's favorite place!

There was some weather around us,
mostly lightening and rain,
and interesting clouds..

I saw on local news this morning that there
was some rotation in some of the clouds
and Aurora sounded the tornado warning!
It never materialized,
and we weren't nearby to hear it..whew!

Later today I'm going to spend some time with my son Austin,
and go to dinner with he and his girlfriend.
George is going to take a rain check to let us spend time together :-)

It's nice to be in beautiful surroundings for awhile!
