Settled for a few days

Buffalo Run Campground
Island Park, ID

We had another long travel day,
but now we're here, and it's beautiful!

Last night we stayed in Elko, NV
in a Walmart parking lot.

The trip to Elko had some pretty spectacular scenery..

with snow on the tops of the mountains.

This morning we got an early start,
leaving the Walmart around 6:30.
We had 407 miles to get to our destination in Idaho.

The scenery today was very nice.
I forgot to get my camera out of Harvey,
so the pictures are with the phone :-(

We took highway 26 which was much more scenic,
and passed by Craters of the Moon National Park.
Although we didn't stop at the Visitor's Center,
we did get a quick shot of the basalt lava flows.

We want to come back to this area and spend more time!

As we turned off onto highway 33,
we were met with more spectacular mountains..

Sorry for the windshield shots :-)

We finally made it to the

.

It's perfectly situated within a few miles of West Yellowstone,
and the western entrance to Yellowstone National Park.

We'll be here until Monday, so we plan on spending
a lot of time in Yellowstone exploring.
Unfortunately the weather isn't going to cooperate the whole time,
but it won't stop us!

  2. I'm exhausted just reading about such a long travel day. I think that qualifies for PDD Silver at least. Yellowstone is just amazing. SO much to see we had to stay in several different campgrounds so we didn't spend all our time driving. ENJOY!!
