George & I didn't get enough of Savannah yesterday,
so this morning the shuttle picked us up again.
The weather wasn't going to cooperate,
but we figured we might as well make a day of it anyway!
We jumped on the trolley at 9 am just in time for it to start pouring.
Figuring we'd ride the trolley until the rain stopped,
we'd probably know the history of Savannah and Georgia
better than the tour guides :-)
The trolley was full of lol's (little old ladies) that were
ooohing and ahhhing over Savannah's architecture.
They especially loved it when they saw something from
the book 'Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil'.
The rain decided to let up around the area we wanted to explore.
We got off at stop #8 to see the Cathedral of St. John.
It is a gorgeous structure, first built in 1835.
We went inside to see the beautiful architecture
and stained glass windows.
You can read all about the history here.
We continued on to the river area again.
The rain subsided (for a bit!), so we walked around poking in shops again.
We saw these two tugs following a huge ship on the Savannah river.
This one was huge!
There are some paddlewheel boats as well that give tours.
I lost George for a second, but found him..
eyeing up some chocolate!
Savannah Candy Kitchen, oh boy!
We didn't buy any chocolate because we knew it would melt :-)
We did pick up some salt water taffy and fireballs..
One of the stops on the trolley took us near a place called The Pirates House.
We read that they had a great lunch buffet, so we decided to check it out.
The food was ok..
but after we ate, we got a tour of the house,
by a pirate :-)
Tomorrow is looking like a little outdoor fun with our friends.
Time to explore Fort Pulaski and Tybee Island!
