More doings

Pittman Visitor Center
Altoona, FL

A lot of the volunteers working in the forest are leaving
at different times in the next few weeks.
Our neighbors are leaving at the same time we are,
but Rosemary and Bob are leaving sooner.
We're making sure we get in as much social time as possible
before we all go our separate ways.

Sunday we all went to Castaways on the St. John's river for dinner.

The view is wonderful and we had a good time.

Today was the Volunteers Appreciation luncheon.
They provided pulled pork BBQ, and we all brought sides or desserts to share.
We ate well :-)

We were all given certificates and pins to thank us for our service.
George and I also received a pin for volunteering over 500 hours.

We have 4 more weeks left until we can hitch up and go.
Hopefully our tires won't be flat on the bottom!

  1. It is good to be appreciated and even better to have a special lunch. The next few weeks are going to zoom by. Yall need a little "ME " time.

  2. It's nice that they appreciate your "service". Hope you get plenty of vacation time before SC :)

  3. 500 hours! I'd bet you've worked more hours than that. But it's still very nice that they recognized your hard, dedicated work. Well done! :c)

  4. It certainly is nice to be appreciated! It's amazing how quickly those hours add up. Just think, in just a few weeks, we'll be neighbors... for a little while anyway. :) :)

  5. Be glad when you can get on the road again, sorry you won't be coming this way.

  6. I had no idea there were so many volunteers there. But I guess the Ocala National Forest is a big place. No wonder they try to be appreciative of the folks who help them run it. Great picture of you and George.
