A lovely day!

Cedar Creek Fish Hatchery
Hebo, OR

Yesterday..
we took a drive up to Tillamook.
Seems they have a famous cheese factory there :-)

We went for the self-guided tour..
but really went for the samples of cheese!

Today..
we took a drive on the 3 Capes Scenic Drive
It wound in and around coastal communities and spectacular views.

When we got to the little town of Netarts, we decided that would be
a great place to have a picnic.
We had brought our cheese & crackers that we bought yesterday.

We had a great view while we were sitting there..

This guy was waiting for us to drop something :-)

Further north we came across this sight..

Three Arch Rocks

We drove in and out of fog, and then came to Cape Meares.

There were some beautiful views from there,

..and a terrific little lighthouse.

Unfortunately, it was closed for renovations.

On our way back, we stopped at a place called
Whalen Island County Park.
It had some primitive campgrounds,
and a cool little 1.4 mile nature trail.

There were fantastic views on the estuary side..

The weather cooperated all day,
and we had a wonderful time!

  7. I don't know which I like better, the Oregon coast or the Tillamook cheese curds!

You've got me drooling over both... :cD

  8. isn't the Oregon coast amazing. We heard from some locals that the Cape Mears lighthouse was damaged by vandals, some kids shot it up with a 22, how sad. Did you see the Tillamook lighthouse? Its suppose to be out in the bay and is privately owned and they use it as a resting place for people's ashes. We didn't get far enough north to see either of these but got lots of info on them from others traveling the coast. They are two more places I still need to get too.

  11. I wandered all through this area in 2010. Rich and I had mainly concentrated on Hebo, Tillamook, Pacific City and surrounding area. My pup and I spent two weeks walking the trails and beaches and I felt as though I could stay the rest of my life. I followed the Trask River to see where it began. Jack and I sat on the beach in Pacific City and watched the Dory Boats come sliding in, went to the Air Museum…oh, and the ice cream…doesn't get any better.
